WSD-F20 Development Story
17:15 FINISH POINT
The long-awaited goal!
Recalling the day's events, and enjoying a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of pleasant fatigue.
With less than an hour until sunset, there is a silent rush through the forest to bring the day hike to an end. The sweat that raised in the warm afternoon mountain air gives way to a chill as the air cools. Suddenly, without notice, the torii at the bottom of the mountain comes into view. After such a long and difficult descent, the end seems to arrive rather abruptly, but the sense of relief it generates brings smiles to the faces of the climbers as then congratulate each other on their accomplishment. Though there is joy upon reaching the peak, there is also a feeling of accomplishment and deep emotion at the bottom of the mountain as well.
After a long walk down, we finally reached our goal.
This marks the end our trek of Mt. Tsukuba, which was used to demonstrate a variety of different WSD-F20 functions. At this point we can to review today's activities by checking the track of our route up to our current location.
Location Memory reproduces the entire route on a map. A history of times when marks were recorded is also kept, so you can see what time you pass specific points.
Location Memory displays a track of our route. A snowman icon indicates where snow was falling, while a mountain icon indicates mountain peaks.
ACTIVITY shows the ascending route in blue and the descending route in red. You can review data from your entire trek, including distance and time, ascent altitude, descent altitude, and more.

KAYO OKADA: During today's field trial we introduced how to use the WSD-F20 mainly for trekking, but functions like Location Memory also come in handy while traveling or engaged in other non-outdoor activities as well. You can record memories of scenes you view, streets you walk, shops you visit, and other events as they occur. Using a Satellite Skin for the map adds a greater sense of realism. Newly added Location and Traveler watch faces are specially designed for travel. We hope that as many people as possible take advantage of these new watch faces.
TAKESHI OKADA: Today's activities show only a small representation of the potential uses of ACTIVITY and MOMENT SETTER. In addition to trekking, fishing, and cycling, the WSD-F20 comes with two additional activities for paddling and snow sports, which greatly expand their potential, and let you find the type of use that best suits your activities. For someone like me who likes water sports, I strongly recommend use of this watch while stand-up paddle boarding.
KAYO OKADA: I am a trekking fan, and I use the WSD-F20 when trekking 3,000-meter class mountains and for winter trekking. More advanced trekking requires higher levels of strength and skill, and information. The WSD-F20 really fits the bill in this regard. The combination of GPS and maps let you know your current location in an instant.
With operation based on GPS, the WSD-F20 is packed with features and functions that come in handy when outdoors, on a trip, or when engaged in just about any other activity imaginable. This is made possible by combining outdoor tool specs with smartwatch functions in a way that maximizes the benefits of both. Why not find out how a smart outdoor watch enhanced by the concept of PRO TREK Smart can make life better for you?
