09:03 GETTING READY

Getting ready to set out under clear skies.
Everything's a go physically and mentally, and our watches are ready to go, too!

Our first stop is a parking area at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba, which is about a 90-minute drive out of Tokyo. Getting out of the car we were met by the pleasant refreshing coolness of the early spring air that braced us for our upcoming climb. The weather forecast for the day was for mostly sunny skies, creating perfect trekking conditions.

After some final adjustments to our clothing and equipment, and a few stretches, we made sure to review the settings of the watch. We confirmed there were no problems with the connection between the watch and the phone we had paired with. Using LOCATION MEMORY to check our current location displayed a realistic satellite skin of the parking area, just as if we were looking at ourselves from directly above.

TAKESHI OKADA: Operation is extremely simple. One press of the APP button launches the app and instantly shows your location on a map. The ability to check a location simply by glancing at your watch is one of the greatest features of this model.

Let's take a little time to share a few tips on using the watch.
LOCATION MEMORY comes with a function that lets you mark specific points on a map whenever you want. You can use this function to mark where you park your so you can easily get back to it later, even if the trailhead and the end of the trail are in different locations. This function also comes in handy when parking at a service area, theme park, or other facility that has a very large parking area. Simply mark your vehicle's location when you park, and you will be able to find it later without any problem.

In addition to your current location, you can also display a track of the route you have followed. Your route for the entire day, including the highways you used, where you stopped along the way, and more is recorded in memory, so you can recall it later and relive your entire trip in amazing detail.

KAYO OKADA: The watch displays Mapbox maps, which are available in a variety of different skins. In addition to a Satellite Skin of terrestrial details and a Street Skin for easy viewing of roadways, there is also an Outdoor Skin that includes altitude information, which is great for trekking, and other outdoor activities. You can download map data to watch memory in advance of a trip so you have it on hand even when in areas that are outside the range of your phone. These functions are perfect for anyone who loves outdoor adventuring.
